BANKRUPTCY
No one enjoys becoming bankrupt. Yet, bankruptcy allows many companies and individuals an opportunity for a “fresh start” so that they can resume their lives without the unbearable burden of past debts. New bankruptcy laws have made filing for bankruptcy more complicated and difficult. We help our clients to first determine whether bankruptcy is an option worth pursuing and if so, the most favorable way to do so.
Alex’s “War Story”: “One day, a middle-aged couple walked into my office. It was a sad time in their lives. Their bagel shop had burned down and the insurance company did not cover the loss. The fire took their livelihood and life savings. For a year, they tried to make ends meet and support their three children. Ultimately, they could not recover from their loss. After reviewing their finances, it became clear that bankruptcy would allow them to regain their lives. I’m happy to report that just two years after the successful discharge of all of their past debts through bankruptcy, they’ve managed to scrape up enough funds to open a new bagel shop. In this case, the law worked just like it was intended – it gave the couple a ‘fresh start’ and a second chance to strive for the American dream.”
